Exposure

The first time I saw the Solar Boat sail and fly on its hydrofoils, a huge smile appeared on my face. I wanted to be a part of this! This year, I get the change to sail the boat myself. The feeling of racing through the canals in Delft is incredible. I’m proud to be part of the Solar Boat Team, so I can share my excitement for sustainable innovations with everyone.

Luckily, my role as part of the Exposure department is to make people enthusiastic. I get to share the story, goals and vision of our extremely motivated team. Together, we push the boundaries of solar energy usage. At the moment, the maritime sector relies heavily on fossil fuels. There is a lot to be gained in this sector and the usage of solar power could be a solution. The Solar Boat team creates the link between the technology we develop and the opportunities this generates for a greener future.

One of the reasons I joined the Solar Boat Team, is because I want to make a difference. Last year, I finished my bachelors in Industrial Design at the TU Delft. After three years of studies, I realized that I had many ideas, but nothing turned into reality. That’s why I’m excited about this year: we’ll actually build a high-tech boat. So we can show everyone that a sustainable maritime sector is not just the future, but reality.
