This year, I’m helping with the design of the Solarboat 2020. I’m excited to about this chance and look forward to taking on the challenge of becoming champion with our new design. I am currently a 4th year Maritime Engineering student at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. By helping the team this year, I hope to test my knowledge that I have gained in recent years by putting it into practice. It seems really cool to develop a boat together with the team and then to build it. In addition, I find innovation and sustainability very exciting and important in the maritime world. I would like to cooperate and learn more about this. It seems to me extremely interesting to do research into all the options available to optimize a boat as much as possible. Working on the Solar Boat is a first step in this research.

As hull design engineer in the hull and body department, I am responsible for designing the sleeve. I optimise the boats hydrodynamic efficiency, manoeuvrability and take-off performance. I am looking forward to building a fast, efficient and sustainable boat to win the Solar Spot One Race!
