This year I am designing the hull of our new Solar Boat. The team took on an enormous challenge by going offshore to circumstances that takes a big step closer to our vision. We start this year with basically nothing and this has especially for me as Hull Design Engineer a big impact. For the past few years the team was able to improve the design from the year before, but this year this is no longer possible. I have to start by making a completely new concept that comes really close to the maritime industry and that is what makes this year really awesome!

That is actually also the biggest reason that I joined the Solar Boat team this year, to start the design process from scratch and sail in the open sea. Besides I am really pleased that I got the chance to do something completely different this year, since my background is Civil Engineering. I have seen this year that at the TU Delft we learn things that we are not only able to use in our own field and that is actually quite special. I really hope to find this year what it is that suits me best.
